I went running this morning.
I never imagined that I, a former track and field competitor, would find my self so out of shape and yes...overweight. So, after trying to put on a pair of shorts, then another, then another that didn't fit this weekend I decided it was time to do something about it. I know that running is an excellent way to burn calories and fat and build endurance. It is also a great motivator to stick to a healthy diet. I don't want to walk to the fridge and eat something terrible after working my bootie off early this morning. It is also an excellent way to energize your day if you do it first thing in the morning.
Who would have thought it would be so difficult though? My calves were burning before I even got off my street. I didn't make it past 15 minutes before I had to walk the rest of the way back to my house. Luckily, I was almost there when I finally gave in. Now I am sitting in my office chair 5 hours later and can feel one of the more dreaded cramps headed my way (butt-lock). It is very unpleasent and it could be difficult to explain if I get on the floor to stretch it out and my boss walks by.
Even with all the negatives stacked against me right now, I am keeping in mind that this is just the first day and not to give up, because each day I will be able to go further, faster and eventually will see results. If I just give up, I might as well go shopping for a wardrobe of larger clothes (not happening). The only thing I can think of that might make the going easier is if I had a running partner. Any takers?
